Vom Hotel Carnia in Richtung Norden auf der SS13 nach Chiusaforte. 300m nach der Ortstafel „Villanova / Vilegnove“ bei km 183 IX erscheint auf der rechten Seite eine Bushaltestelle und eine Einfahrt zu einem großen Parkplatz (direkt auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite von Villanova. Hier parken. Anmerkung: Wenn man von Parkplatz in Richtung Villanova schaut, sieht man direkt oberhalb schon die Kaskade mit den insgesamt fast 120 Hm.

From the Hotel Carnia head north on the SS13 to Chiusaforte. 300m after the town sign "Villanova / Vilegnove" at km 183 IX appears on the right a bus stop and an entrance to a large parking lot (directly across the road from Villanova. Park here. Note: If you look from the parking lot in the direction of Villanova, you can already see directly above the cascade with the total of almost 120 hm.

Vom Parkplatz aus geht man bei den Sitzbänken vorbei bis zur Straße. Wenn man hier sich leicht nach links wendet und über die Straße geht, sieht man ein weißes Haus (Direkt an der Ortstafel „Villanova“). Links neben dem Haus führt eine Treppe hangaufwärts. Dieser folgt man bis man zum asphaltierten Radweg am Anfang des Tunnels kommt. Man quert den Radweg (rote Markierungen) und folgt dem Weg bergauf. Man kommt zu einer Straße wo man über die Leitplanken klettert, quert den Parkplatz (Rio Molin Parkplatz) und geht links über die Terrasse des Hauses. Direkt nach dem Haus sieht man schon wieder die roten Markierungen, denen man vorbei an den Hangverbauungen folgt, bis man zum Rio Belepeit kommt (direkt über dem letzten Abseiler). ACHTUNG hier NICHT den roten Markierungen über den Rio Belepeit folgen, sondern ca. 50m or. links dem Bach entlang hoch und erst hier den Rio Belepeit überqueren und dem Wanderweg weiter folgen. Diesem Weg folgt man nun für ca. 15-20 min vorbei an dem weißen Bildstock hangaufwärts. Man trifft dann auf den gut markierten Wanderweg „425“ bei einer betonierten Mauer (ca 570 Hm). Hier biegt man links ab und folgt dem Weg „425“ in Richtung Westen. Man bleibt auf dem gut sichtbaren Weg „425“. Nach ca. weiteren 30 min kommt man – am Sattel –bei einer Ruine vorbei, nach weiteren 5 min kommt man zu einem Haus (links) mit Quelle, wo man Trinkwasser auffüllen kann. ACHTUNG: Diese Trinkwasserquelle sollte unbedingt genützt werden. Der obere Teil des Belepeit ist trocken und von dem Punkt weg hat man keine Möglichkeit mehr die Trinkwasservorräte aufzufüllen. Man folgt dem klar erkennbaren Weg „425“ hangaufwärts bis man bei 890 Hm (N46.405557, E013.275923) zu einer unscheinbaren Abzweigung kommt (sowohl ein Baum rechts als auch links haben eine rot-weiß-rote Wandermarkierung) und bei unserer Begehung hing dort ein rotes Tuch. Hier biegt man vom 425er-Wanderweg rechts ab hangaufwärts. Man folgt dem zuerst unscheinbaren Weg im Gras, der dann aber immer deutlicher erkennbar wird. Nach weiteren ca. 40min trifft man auf 1180Hm (N46.409427, E013.278872) auf eine weitere Ruine. Bei der Ruine nicht in Richtung Aussichtspunkt, sondern an der Ruine links vorbei (Roter Punkt am Baum) und dem Weg weiter folgen. Bei 1280Hm (N46.412976, E013.280332) den Weg verlassen (wir haben dort ein Stück Kordas Seil an den Baum gebunden) und weglos zuerst leicht bergauf, dann rechts haltend am Sattel entlang in Richtung Süden – in Richtung „Monte Belepeit“. Ganz einfach dem Sattel entlang folgen bis man zum Baum – zum ersten Abseiler – gelangt. Einstieg (N46.411546, E013.280327).

From the parking lot, walk past the benches until you reach the road. If you turn slightly left here and cross the road, you will see a white house (Right by the town sign "Villanova"). To the left of the house, a staircase leads uphill. Follow the stairs until you reach the asphalted cycle path at the beginning of the tunnel. Cross the cycle path (red markings) and follow the path uphill. You come to a road where you climb over the guardrails, cross the parking lot (Rio Molin parking lot) and go left over the terrace of the house. Immediately after the house you can see the red markings again, which you follow past the slope barriers until you reach Rio Belepeit (just above the last rappel). ATTENTION: DO NOT follow the red markings over the Rio Belepeit, but go up the stream for about 50m or. to the left and only here cross the Rio Belepeit and continue to follow the hiking trail. Follow this path for about 15-20 minutes uphill past the white wayside shrine. You will then meet the well-marked hiking trail "425" at a concrete wall (approx. 570 hm). Here you turn left and follow the path "425" to the west. You stay on the well visible path "425". After about another 30 min you pass - at the saddle - a ruin, after another 5 min you come to a house (on the left) with a spring, where you can fill up drinking water. ATTENTION: This source of drinking water should be used in any case. The upper part of the Belepeit is dry and from that point on there is no possibility to refill the drinking water supply. Follow the clearly recognizable path "425" uphill until you come to an inconspicuous junction at 890 m (N46.405557, E013.275923) (both a tree on the right and on the left have a red-white-red hiking mark) and during our walk a red cloth was hanging there. Here you turn right off the 425 trail up the slope. You follow the first inconspicuous path in the grass, but then it becomes more and more recognizable. After another 40min or so, at 1180Hm (N46.409427, E013.278872), you come across another ruin. At the ruin, do not head towards the viewpoint, but pass the ruin on the left (red dot on the tree) and continue to follow the path. At 1280Hm (N46.412976, E013.280332) leave the path (we tied a piece of Korda's ropes to the tree there) and go pathless first slightly uphill, then keeping right along the saddle towards the south - towards "Monte Belepeit". Simply follow the saddle until you reach the tree - the first rappel. Entry (N46.411546, E013.280327).

Die ersten Abseiler sind sehr abenteuerlich mit sehr hoher Steinschlaggefahr – Achtung! Es muss wirklich aufgepasst werden, da man unweigerlich Steine lostritt, außerdem sind die Steine sehr scharf d.h. man muss auch beim Abseilen auf das Seil achtgeben. Man hat beim Einstieg keine Möglichkeit die Seile nass zu machen, d.h. man seilt eigentlich alpin direkt in der prallen Sonne ab. Nach den ersten drei abenteuerlichen Abseilern von Bäumen und einer Abkletterstrecke trifft man auf die Quelle des Belepeit. (Bei unserer Begehung war relativ viel Wasser in Friaul - trotzdem waren es nur ein paar Tropfen, die hier aus dem Berg gekommen sind). Nach einer weiteren ca. 150m Abkletterpassage mit Steinschlaggefahr wird der Canyon etwas enger und man trifft auf die ersten gebohrten Stände. Die nächsten 5 Abseiler sind immer wieder unterbrochen von Abkletterpassagen und danach folgen 6 Abseiler Schlag auf Schlag. Es folgt eine Passage mit mehreren Abbrüchen (R30re, R35 li) – hier muss man darauf achten, dass man wirklich die 30m bzw. 35m Seil zur Verfügung hat, weil sich bei den Abbrüchen dazwischen kein Bohrhaken befindet. Nach dieser Passage öffnet sich der Canyon ein wenig und durch eine unterirdische Quelle bekommt der Canyon endlich merkbar Wasser. Nach ca. 3 Abseilern in etwas offeneres Gelände wird der Canyon noch mal enger und nach weiteren 4 Abseilern trifft man auf wirklich offenes Gelände, welches den Einstieg des Teil 2 markiert.

The first rappel are very adventurous with very high risk of falling rocks - Attention! It must be really careful, because you inevitably looseritt stones, in addition, the stones are very sharp i.e. you must also pay attention to the rappel on the rope. There is no possibility to get the ropes wet at the entry, i.e. you rappel directly in the blazing sun. After the first three adventurous rappels from trees and a descending section, you meet the source of the Belepeit. (During our ascent there was relatively much water in Friuli - nevertheless there were only a few drops coming out of the mountain here). After another downclimb of about 150m with danger of falling rocks, the canyon becomes a bit narrower and you meet the first drilled stances. The next 5 rappels are repeatedly interrupted by downclimb passages and then 6 rappels follow one after the other. There follows a passage with several abseils (R30re, R35 li) - here you have to make sure that you really have the 30m or 35m ropes available, because there are no pitons between the abseils. After this passage the canyon opens up a bit and through an underground spring the canyon finally gets noticeable water. After about 3 rappels into more open terrain, the canyon narrows again and after another 4 rappels you hit really open terrain, which marks the entry of part 2.
