Ca. 100m vor der Brücke (in Richtung Cilaos) geht ein Bachbett/eine Steinplatte (Pissa-Schlucht) steil hinauf (Achtung stellenweise sehr rutschig!). Vorbei an einem markanten, spitzen Felsen auf der linken Seite steigt man weiter geradeaus bis knapp unter die hohe Felswand auf. Links davon geht es nun über einen Kamm kurz nach oben (es hängt ein Seil dort), bevor man steil bis auf ein Plateau absteigt. Anschließend folgt man einem schmalen Pfad immer weiter nach oben, über mehrere Geröllfelder (man befindet sich auf der orografisch linken Seite des Bras Rouge). Man steigt bis zu einem kleinen Pass hoch, an dem der Weg dann steil nach links unten durch die Vegetation führt. Über den steilen Pfad, sowie teils abkletterbares, felsiges Gelände gelangt man zu der steilen Abbruchkante in die Schlucht. Hier kann über 2 Zwischenstände in die Schlucht abgeseilt werden.

Approx. 100m before the bridge (in the direction of Cilaos), a streambed/stone slab goes steeply uphill (be careful, very slippery in places!). Pass a prominent, pointed rock on the left and continue straight up to just below the high rock face. To the left of this, the route now climbs briefly over a ridge (there is a rope hanging there) before descending steeply to a plateau. Then follow a narrow path further and further up, over several boulder fields (you are on the orographic left side of the Bras Rouge). Climb up to a small mountain pass, where the path then leads steeply down to the left through the vegetation. The steep path, as well as some rocky terrain that can be climbed, leads to the steep edge of the canyon. Here you can rappel into the canyon via 2 intermediate stands.

Die Relais in der Kathedrale werden regelmäßig von den Fluten weggerissen. Der R3 RG scheint der einzige zu sein, der der Zeit standhält (Ausrüstungsrelais 20 m vor dem Ende der Abseilstelle, ca. 70 m bis zum Ende, mit einigen Reibungen).
