Von der Stadt Basse-Terre auf der gleichnamigen westlichen Inselhälfte von Guadeloupe geht es auf der Küstenstraße (N 2) 22 km (ab Flugplatz Basse-Terre) nordwärts (über die Ortschaften Vieux-Habitants, Bouillante), bis wir die Ortschaft Pigeon erreichen. Am Ortsende von Pigeon überqueren wir den Rivière (= Fluss) Bourceau. Etwa 380 m weiter auf der N 2 biegen wir rechts ab in Richtung Birloton. Nach 750 m (von der N2) verzweigt sich die Straße.Wir fahren hier zunächst links und kommen nach 1100 m, zuletzt steil hinunter an den Fluss Lostau (in den weiter oberhalb der Bois Malaisé mündet). Hier hat einmal eine Brücke den Fluss überspannt (von einem Zyklon zerstört). Dort stellen wir das Auto für den Ausstieg ab.Mit dem anderen Auto geht es wieder die 1100 m zurück zur Straßenverzweigung und hier dann in spitzem Winkel links (Straße zur Siedlung Négresse und Richtung Birloton). Nach etwa 2 km (ab Straßenverzweigung)endet diese Straße und wir stellen hier das Auto für den Zustieg ab (Gleicher Parkplatz wie für den Canyon Bourceau, Höhe 290 m ü.NN).

From the town of Basse-Terre on the western half of the island of Guadeloupe of the same name, we take the coastal road (N 2) 22 km (from the airport of Basse-Terre) northward (via the villages of Vieux-Habitants, Bouillante) until we reach the village of Pigeon. At the end of Pigeon we cross the Rivière (= river) Bourceau. About 380 m further on the N2, we turn right in the direction of Birloton. After 750 m (from the N2) the road forks and we turn left and after 1100 m we reach the river Lostau (into which the Bois Malaisé flows further upstream). Here once a bridge spanned the river (destroyed by a cyclone). There we park the car for the exit. With the other car we go back the 1100 m to the road junction and here we turn left in a sharp angle (road to the settlement Négresse and direction Birloton). After about 2 km (from the road junction) this road ends and we leave the car here for the access (same parking lot as for Canyon Bourceau, altitude 290 m above sea level).

Vom Ende der Straße nehmen wir den Pfad links und folgen dem Wegweiser 'Piton de Bouillante'. Der Pfad zieht, teilweise steil, etwa 170 m hinauf bis zur Höhe 460 m ü.NN. Hier verzweigt er sich. Wir gehen den linken Pfad (praktisch geradeaus weiter) und folgen dabei dem Wegweiser 'Piton de Bouillante par l'Esperance'. Der Pfad zieht nun nicht mehr so steil dahin, überquert ein Bachbett und etwa 30 Min. nach der Pfadverzweigung eröffnet sich uns ein freier Blick nach Norden auf die Wälder. Etwa 5 Min. weiter geht links hinunter der als solcher kaum erkennbare Pfad zum Einstieg. Die Abzweigung war 2013 markiert mit einer Reepschnurschlinge li. an einem Baum in etwa 2 m Höhe (siehe Foto). Wir sind hier etwa 510 m Höhe über NN. Sofern wir die Grenze des Nationalpaks erreichen haben sollten (Schild), sind wir schon zu weit gegangen und müssen ca. 130 m zurück.Die Spuren führen uns nun steil hinab (im Zweifel eher rechts auf dem Rücken halten) in einen orograf. linken Seitenbach des Bois Malaisé, etwa 20 m (und einen 25-m-Abseiler) oberhalb dessen Mündung in den Bois Malaisé.

From the exit of the road we take the path on the left and follow the signpost 'Piton de Bouillante'. The path goes up, sometimes steeply, for about 170 m to the altitude of 460 m above sea level. Here it branches. We take the left path (practically straight ahead) following the signpost 'Piton de Bouillante par l'Esperance'. The path is now not so steep, crosses a streambed and about 30 min. after the branching of the path, a clear view to the north of the woods opens up to us. About 5 min. further down on the left is the hardly recognizable as such path to the entry. The fork was marked in 2013 with a reepschnurschlinge left on a tree at about 2 m height (see photo). We are here about 510 m altitude above sea level. If we should have reached the border of the National Peak (sign), we have already gone too far and have to go back about 130 m.The tracks now lead us steeply down (in case of doubt rather keep right on the back) into an orographic left side stream of the Bois Malaisé, about 20 m (and a 25 m rappel) above its mouth into the Bois Malaisé.

Einige schöne Abseiler wechseln ab mit längeren Laufstrecken. Attraktives Regenwaldambiente.

Nach dem 5. und letzten Abseiler (der Zustiegsabseiler aus dem Seitenbach in den Bois Malaisé mitgerechnet) laufen und klettern wir etwa 30 Min. weiter flussabwärts. Dann mündet von rechts der Fluss Losteau ein (Höhe 135 m ü.NN). Wir gehen noch etwa 50 m weiter im Flussbett abwärts und steigen dann rechts die Uferböschung hinauf zu einem Weg, der am Fluss entlang abwärts in Richtung unterer Abstellplatz zieht. Nach etwa 20 Min. und der abschließenden Querung des Flusses Losteau haben wir diesen erreicht.

After the 5th and last rappel (counting the access rappel from the side stream into the Bois Malaisé) we walk and climb about 30 min. further downstream. Then the Losteau river enters from the right (altitude 135 m a.s.l.). We continue downstream for about 50 m and then climb up the embankment on the right to a path that descends along the river towards the lower parking area. After about 20 min. and the final crossing of the Losteau River, we have reached it.
