Summary:
Located in Val Ceresio, northeast of Varese, this creek is great throughout the whole season. Between the waterfalls, we find long stretches of walk where the characteristic red porphyry of Cuasso al Monte stands out.
Access:
Downstream: in Cuasso al Piano you can park in Via Repubblica 46, in the parking lots on the right side of the road, coming from Bisuschio immediately after the bridge under which the stream flows.
Upstream: drive along the Provincial Road 29 towards Alpe Tedesco. Pass the village of Cuasso al Monte, and arrive in of Cavagnano. Park the car in the spaces in front of the cemetery.
Approach (10 min):
From the parking lot of the cemetery take the adjacent Via Campagnola that, after 200 meters ends in a path, then
intersect a country road leading directly to the stream. Always go straight to each branch, be careful not to follow the
signs to the waterfall, because they would take you to the lower part of this. The canyon begins near a beautiful medieval bridge built with the local red porphyry.
Tour (2 h 30):

Return (5 min):
After the last descent continue in the riverbed until you get to the houses. The exit remains on the right. You must go up the slope passing next to an old abandoned wash-house, going down between the houses in a street which then leads directly to the cars parked on the provincial road.

There is a shuttle option by leaving cars downstream at Cuasso al Piano, and going up by shuttle to the municipal cemetery in Cavagnano.
The entrance to the stream is reached via a trail, with no signs regarding the gorge; the first hour of the gorge is almost totally flat so with few major rappels.
The water is really clean until the confluence with a waterfall of gray water from the sewage treatment plant of the village above, unfortunately the last stretch of the creek, although very interesting and enjoyable, is accompanied by an incessant smell of detergent coming from the sewage treatment plant.
For a group of 3 people the run was about 3 hours.
All anchorages in excellent condition, only the anchorage of the first rappel is really uncomfortable.
The creek comes into the village, when you see the first houses the exit remains on the right, just before an artificial barrage.
Escape routes present almost everywhere coming out through the woods.
Ps: Halfway down the ravine there is a mega cool toboggan!
