Zufahrt vom Saanetal (Gstaad): Von Gstaad/Saanen fahren wir etwa 11 km in südlicher Richtung nach Gsteig. Etwa in der Ortsmitte folgen wir dem Wegweiser zur Sanetschseilbahn und biegen halblinks in die Innergsteigstraße/das Wallisgässli ab. Nach 1,6 km von hier erreichen wir die Talstation der Seilbahn (Innergsteig) und stellen hier unser Auto ab. Mit der Seilbahn geht es nun in etwas mehr als 10 Minuten hinauf zur Bergstation. Die Kabine bietet 6 Plätze und fährt in der Saison (zweite Juni-Hälfte bis etwa Mitte Oktober) "nach Bedarf", maximal fünfmal pro Stunde. 2015 war der Preis für die Bergfahrt 15 CHF. Für Rentner - wie mich - ist der Preis ermäßigt, obwohl kein entsprechender Hinweis feststellbar war. Zufahrt vom Rhonetal: Von Sion/Sitten verkehrt ein Postbus hinauf zum Sanetschsee (2033m üNN). Die Straße ist hier schon im unteren Bereich relativ schmal. Mit dem eigenen PKW nimmt man deshalb besser die Straße ab Conthey (südlich Sion) über Erde und Daillon. Nach Daillon trifft man dann auf die von Sion heraufziehende Straße (1030m üNN - 10,5 km von Conthey hierher). Weiter geht's auf meist einspuriger Straße, zwischenzeitlich durch einen 800m langen Tunnel hinauf zum Col du Sanetsch (2251m üNN - 26 km ab Conthey) und jenseits hinunter zum Sanetschsee (Lac de Sénin), an dessen Ende man das Auto etwas oberhalb des Sees bei der Auberge du Sanetsch parkt (31,5 km ab Conthey). Von hier sieht man im NO die Bergstation der Seilbahn, wo der Zustieg beginnt.

Access from the Saanen valley (Gstaad): From Gstaad/Saanen we drive about 11 km in southern direction to Gsteig. Approximately in the center of the village we follow the signpost to the Sanetsch cable car and turn half-left into the Innergsteigstraße/the Wallisgässli. After 1.6 km from here we reach the valley station of the cable car (Innergsteig) and park our car here. The cable car now takes us up to the top station in a little more than 10 minutes. The cabin offers 6 seats and runs during the season (second half of June until about mid-October) "as needed", a maximum of five times per hour. In 2015, the price for the uphill ride was 15 CHF. For pensioners - like me - the price is reduced, although no corresponding notice was ascertainable. Access from the Rhone Valley: From Sion/Sitten, a post bus runs up to the Sanetschsee (2033m above sea level). The road is relatively narrow already in the lower part. With your own car it is better to take the road from Conthey (south of Sion) via Erde and Daillon. After Daillon you meet the road coming up from Sion (1030m above sea level - 10.5 km from Conthey here). The road continues on mostly one lane, in between through a 800m long tunnel up to the Col du Sanetsch (2251m a.s.l. - 26 km from Conthey) and beyond down to the Sanetsch lake (Lac de Sénin), at the exit of which one parks the car a bit above the lake at the Auberge du Sanetsch (31.5 km from Conthey). From here you can see the top station of the cable car to the NE, where the access begins.

Vom Ausgang der Bergstation geht es zunächst etwa 40m in nördlicher Richtung, dann schwenkt der breite Weg nach ONO, wir laufen an einem nördlich des Weges gelegenen Haus vorbei und folgen dem Weg weiter, der nun in Richtung OSO schwenkt. Etwa 100m weiter treffen wir auf den Weg, der von der Talstation heraufkommt. Hier (2035m üNN) entscheidet sich, ob man den Einstieg zum 2. Abschnitt nehmen will oder erst den zum 3. Abschnitt. Will man zum 2. Abschnitt einsteigen, so verlässt man den besagten Weg nach wenigen Metern wieder und folgt dem unscheinbaren Pfad, der in der Mulde links in Richtung NW abwärts führt. Der Pfad wird deutlicher, umrundet einen Bergrücken und hält dann in Richtung SW auf den Bach zu. Man kreuzt den hier nicht eingeschnittenen Bach und folgt am jenseitigen Ufer dem Pfad, der sich fast parallel zum Bachbett hält, aber im wesentlichen horizontal verläuft. Nach einem markanten Felsbrocken geht es dann rechts, also in nördlicher Richtung, hinab ins Bachbett, das man unmittelbar beim ersten Abseiler erreicht (1925m üNN). Will man aber die Begehung auf die eigentliche Schlucht beschränken und unmittelbar am Beginn des 3. Abschnitts einsteigen, so folgt man dem Weg in Richtung Gsteig und Talstation weiter abwärts.Er verläuft geraume Zeit parallel zum Hang, baut dann aber in vielen Serpentinen rasch Höhe ab. Am Ende der Serpentinenstrecke (etwa auf 1870m üNN) beginnt der Weg einen langezogenen Rechtsbogen zu beschreiben. Auf etwa 1830m üNN beginnt der Weg wieder in vielen Serpentinen abwärts zu laufen. Andieser Stelle (1830m üNN) verlassen wir diesen Weg, halten uns weiter in etwa geradeaus in Richtung WNW. Unser neuer Pfad läuft unterhalb des Steilabfalls (Fluh), zieht, zT etwas ausgesetzt ,um eine Gländenase und führt uns über eine Weidefläche zu der Hütte mit der Bezeichnung Brapire (Schafstall). Wir folgen dem Weg an der Hütte vorbei noch einige Meter, biegen dann aber in Richtung SW von ihm ab und laufen weglos auf Sicht hinunter zum Bach. Bachab sieht man schon den Beginn der Einschluchtung (1780m üNN). Zur Brapirehütte und damit zum Beginn des 3. Abschnitts kann man auch direkt von der Talstation über den Steg am Canyonende aufsteigen. Die entsprechende Wegbeschreibung findet sich in dem Buch "Canyoning-Touren Schweiz" von Brunner/Bétrisey, Tour 18, Seite 142. Das bedeutet, dass in diesem Buch nur der 3. Abschnitt näher beschrieben ist.

From the exit of the mountain station we first walk about 40m in a northerly direction, then the wide path swings to the NE, we walk past a house located to the north of the path and continue to follow the path, which now swings to the OSE. About 100m further we meet the path coming up from the valley station. Here (2035m a.s.l.) it is decided whether to take the entry to the 2nd part or only to the 3rd part. If one wants to enter to the 2nd part, one leaves the said path after a few meters and follows the inconspicuous path that descends in the hollow on the left towards NW. The path becomes clearer, circles a ridge and then keeps heading SW towards the stream. Cross the stream, which is not incised here, and follow the path on the far bank, which keeps almost parallel to the streambed but is essentially horizontal. After a prominent boulder, you then go down to the right, i.e. in a northerly direction, into the streambed, which you reach immediately at the first rappel (1925m a.s.l.). If you want to limit the ascent to the actual canyon and enter directly at the beginning of the 3rd part, follow the path in the direction of Gsteig and the valley station further down.it runs parallel to the slope for quite a while, but then rapidly reduces height in many serpentines. At the exit of the serpentine section (at about 1870m above sea level), the path begins to describe a long right-hand bend. At about 1830m a.s.l. the path starts to walk downhill again in many serpentines. At this point (1830m a.s.l.) we leave this path and continue straight ahead in direction WNW. Our new path walks below the steep slope (Fluh), moves, partly a bit exposed ,around a Gländenase and leads us over a pasture area to the hut with the name Brapire (sheep pen). We follow the path past the hut for a few meters, but then turn off from it in the direction of SW and walk without a path on sight down to the stream. Downstream you can already see the beginning of the gorge (1780m a.s.l.). To the Brapire hut and thus to the beginning of the 3rd part you can also climb directly from the valley station over the footbridge at the end of the canyon. The corresponding route description can be found in the book "Canyoning Tours Switzerland" by Brunner/Bétrisey, Tour 18, page 142. This means that only the 3rd part is described in more detail in this book.

Im 2 Abschnitt zu Beginn idR kein oder nur geringer Wasserdurchsatz. Trotzdem Sprungmöglichkeiten in tiefe Gumpen. In dem großen Chaos nach den Abseilern im 1. Abschnitt entspringt am linken Hangfuß eine kräftige Karstquelle, die entsprechend kaltes Wasser in den Bach bringt. Die eigentliche Schlucht ist der 3. Abschnitt. Auch hier Sprung- und Rutschmöglichkeiten. Am Ende der Einschluchtung bei der Holzhütte unter der Wand li. Ausstiegsmöglichkeit, aber der weitere Abstieg bis zum geländerlosen Steg ist zu empfehlen.

In the 2 parts at the beginning usually no or only low water flow. Nevertheless, possible jumps into deep pools. In the big mess after the rappels in the 1st part, a powerful karst spring rises at the left foot of the slope, which brings correspondingly cold water into the stream. The canyon proper is the 3rd part. Here, too, there are jumps and slides. At the end of the gorge at the wooden hut under the wall on the left exit possibility, but the further descent to the railingless footbridge is recommended.

An dem geländerlosen Holzsteg (1595m üNN) steigen wir rechts hinaus auf den Pfad, der uns zuerst leicht ansteigend an der Wand entlang aus dem Geländeeinschnitt hinausführt, um dann steil bergab zu ziehen. Man stößt dann auf den Weg, der von der Talstation hinauf zum Sanetschsee zieht. Auf diesem abwärts bis zur Talstation.\n

At the wooden footbridge without railings (1595m a.s.l.) we climb out to the right onto the path, which first leads us slightly uphill along the wall out of the cut in the terrain and then steeply downhill. You then meet the path that goes up from the valley station to the Sanetschsee lake. Follow this downhill to the valley station.\n
