Probably the best approach option for us so far: from the upper parking lot, follow the straight/easily ascending forest path ("Jochberg-Ost") to the exit, then follow the same contour line for approx. 300m to the stream and descend into it (also possible with ropes) - still steep, but for a much shorter section! 2 anchors newly drilled.

First pool only 1.5m deep... Jumping not possible. The anchors should be replaced to a standardized one, the chain links are partly too narrow for carabiners or a mix of precious metal and other metal, which has led to severe corrosion.

We entered the Naudersbach (left, western tributary) this year, but it is less attractive because of the long walking and descending routes and few rappels. In the Naudersbach we drilled 2 pitons. In the lower part of the Gamsgartl still 6 stands. 2022 (entered via Gamsbach) we drilled 10 holds, which were all still there. Have dismantled some old drill bits and dilapidated stands. Thus the Gamsgartl is again relatively well rehabilitated, nevertheless much experience and condition necessary! Less water than last year in September, but in the lower part many springs are added!

It should be sure to get out at the dam, because the section to the start of the Inferiore is very tedious and no hooks are drilled! Very fun slides, a perfect 12m jump, very nice sections but also at times much to climb off. Got in a little too high and drilled 1 piton. Further down good chain stands.

Have parked at parking spaces in the right bend below the canyoning provider, from there you come in 20min of the road to the bridge at the entrance. The exit that the commercial groups use, which leads steeply up directly to the bend, we have not found. Much more water flow than a few years ago by EU regulation, but no rappel point is directly in the water.

Stands OK, but rings partly rusty (no stainless steel!). Apparently you can walk the Tatzelwurm rope-free (20m jump, 22m slide, ....), but we slid the lower 5m at the slope, also slid the lowest meters at the last rappel. Lower pedestrian bridge closed due to decay.

All hooks are not redundant (express anchor + rings), but well placed without edges. A few small abseiling places. The weather can change very quickly due to the alpine location, with us it has briefly started to snow sleet, half an hour later it was sunny again.

Rappel rings usually not redundant and placed so that you are directly in the water jet. At higher water levels certainly problematic. The two "interesting" parts of the gorge are already worthwhile.

Was combined with Moserkarbach. The Birkkarbach has somewhat more interesting rappels than the Moserkarbach. Approach very steep in the upper part. Cab may only drive until 18:00 because of nature conservation, cell phone reception (A1 network) only again in the lower part of the descent (when forest begins). Many old hooks of the brand self-made with shackles, 4 of them were newly drilled and replaced on stainless steel or supplemented.

Short but very worthwhile tour, perfect for cooling off on hot days. From the parking lot at the substation you need about 35min to the entrance, and the few jumps after the longer flat passage should be taken.

At the rappelling point with rope railing directly at the "Gnaupenloch" (stone arch at the end of the narrow cut section) is a somewhat unstable entanglement, The rapid link for rappelling was moved to the second anchorage at the rope railing.

Unfortunately, only the lowest part interesting (last 4 rappels from climb Gaismoosstollen), and at the beginning a nice place, otherwise 1h walking distance and annoying slippery tree climbing! 2 stands drilled rather at the beginning of the gorge, as none were available. The gullies were unfortunately not deep enough to jump / slide

In the gorge no floods should have passed for a long time, because partly very slippery and mossy. Again very very nice canyon walk, cold protection by means of Eisweiste. Gloves definitely recommended. All stands available and in good condition (all adhesive hooks).

We also walked the short upper part, which starts below the water diversion at the (upper) small bridge, and goes to the private hydroelectric power station. The upper part (about 30min) includes only minor rappels, is flat and nothing special. From the lower bridge, the gorge then becomes very spectacular and insanely beautiful! We have 2 stands (Niro rings) re-drilled, a chain stand of it was no longer accessible. At the end, when it becomes more open, we have kept and right, because then are still beautiful abseiling places. The glacier water is logically extremely cold, you should put on a lot of neoprene! 2 pairs of socks and neoprene gloves. Automatic water drainage usually no problem in the fall in the best weather. 2 emergency exits (at bridge and rather at the end one more).
