Vom Tal der Estéron nehmen wir die D 2211 Richtung St. Auban. Bereits vor den dem Ort stellen wir ein Auto bei dem Maison des Services au Public de Saint-Auban ab. Sofern wir über ein zweites Auto verfügen, fahren wir am linken Schluchtrand weiter bergab und erreichen nach einigen Serpentinen eine Brücke über einen Seitenbach des Estéron. Wenige Meter danach können wir af der Freifläche links das zweite Auto abstellen.
From the valley of the Estéron we take the D 2211 direction St. Auban. Already before the village we park a car at the Maison des Services au Public de Saint-Auban. If we have a second car, we continue downhill along the left canyon rim and after a few switchbacks we reach a bridge over a side stream of the Estéron. A few meters later, we can park the second car in the open space on the left.

Obwohl man die Schlucht auf weiten Teilen von der Straße aus einsehen kann, ist die Begehung doch eine sehr sportliche Angelegenheit, die Anfängern nicht empfohlen werden kann. Der Wasserreichtum führt an manchen Stellen zu Kehrwassern und Rückläufen. Der höchste Wasserfall (wenige Meter nach der Unterquerung einer Seilbrücke aus 2 Stahlseilen) sollte bei mehr als 500 liter/sec nicht mehr abgeseilt werden, obwohl man durch ihn durch seilt und hinter dem Wasserfall zu stehen kommt. Es bietet sich hier ein (nicht einfacher) Wechsel von der rechten auf die linke Schluchtseite an sowie eine klettermäßig zu bewältigende Traverse nach links hinab um eine Kante und mit mehreren Zwischenhaken und einem Baum zu einer schrägen Platte, von der aus gesprungen werden kann. Auch eine Seilfähre ist hier möglich und wird von kommerziellen Guides angewandt. Diese greifen im übrigen nur 2x zum Seil für die Abseiler.
Although the canyon can be seen from the road on large parts, the walk is a very sporty affair, which can not be recommended to beginners. The abundance of water leads in some places to sweeping waters and backwaters. The highest waterfall (a few meters after passing under a rope bridge made of 2 steel ropes) should not be rappelled at more than 500 liter/sec, although you can rappel through it and come to a stop behind the waterfall. A (not easy) change from the right to the left side of the gorge is possible here, as well as a climbing traverse to the left down around an edge and with several intermediate pitons and a tree to a sloping slab from which to jump. A rope ferry is also possible here and is used by commercial guides. These, by the way, only grab the rope 2x.

Eingekeilt zwischen zwei großen kommerziell geführten Gruppen bewegten wir uns abwärts. Allerdings relativ schnell, weil uns die Kenntnis der Guides einige Abseilvorgänge ersparte und sie uns soger netterweise zweimal die von ihnen gespannte Tyrolienne anboten. Ein dickes merci an dieser Stelle!
Wegen des mäßigen Wasserdurchsatzes keinerlei Probleme.
Die Canyonisten werden mit Schildern aufgefordert, bei dem Servicegebäude südlich des Ortes ihr Auto zu parken.
Wedged between two large commercially guided groups, we moved downward. However, relatively quickly, because the knowledge of the guides saved us some abseiling and they even kindly offered us twice the tyrolienne stretched by them. A big merci at this point!
Because of the moderate water flow no problems at all.
The canyoneers are asked with signs to park their car at the service building south of the place.
