From Chiavenna on the SS 36 southward for about 40 km. At Bellano turn off onto the lakeside road SP 62 and continue south for another 5 km to Varenna. Before the stream turn left (Via per Esino) and go uphill in serpentines for 1.4 km in the (easterly) direction of Perledo, Esino Lario. At the exit of the straight, after the third bend to the right, in the left-hand serpentine, the road for Vezio turns off to the right (signpost). 100m before the bridge over the Esino, park the lower vehicle in the parking lot (600m from the turnoff at the switchback). With the second vehicle, go back 600m to the junction on the left and continue uphill for 3.6km. At the junction here continue in the direction of Vezio (SO). We now continue for 4.1 km high above the valley of the Esino and then park the second car on a small parking area on the right of the road before a left turn (about 220m before the waste collection point of Esino Lario).

Then again about 90 min. hiking in the streambed with smaller steps before we enter the attractive narrow part of the canyon. Here once a strong contact with the stream can not be avoided. At the underpass of the highway the upper part of the Esino comes to an exit. Here you can get off or continue along the lower part.
