From Bad Tölz on the B 13 in a southerly direction along the Isar upwards, past Lenggries, we reach the dam crest of the Sylvenstein reservoir after 23 km. Here we turn left and follow the B 307 for about 4 km in an easterly direction. Then we cross the Markgraben and park our car in the parking area to the right of the road.

On the B 307 back again 250m (in a westerly direction) and then up the forest road to the right in a northerly direction. After about 6 minutes we cross the Gerstenrieder ditch and climb up the opposite slope for another 25 min (approx.). The path flattens out and we come to a clearing. Here a clear track goes off to the left in the direction of NW. We follow it, come to a forest canyon and descend it to the streambed of the Gerstenrieder ditch. Alternatively, you can also cross the slope in the upper part of this forest canyon in the direction of NNW and then meet the streambed a little higher (2 additional small rappels).
