von Sbg.Süd --> A10 ri. Villach --> Abfahrt Pass Lueg --> beim Kreisverkehr re. --> bis zum Gasthof Stegenwald/Fahrsicherheits- Zentrum --> hier parken (ca. 500Hm).

Bei unserer Begehung folgten wir den Wanderweg 220 Richtung Happischhaus bis ca. 1140Hm (Wegweiser am Baum eingewachsen). Ab hier verlässt man den Wanderweg re. um leicht ansteigend durch das offene, unwegsame Gelände bis zum 1. Graben zu gelangen. Am Rücken vor dem Graben sollte jetzt ein schmaler Steig erkennbar sein (wenn nicht etwas höher steigen). Nach dem Abstieg in den 1. Graben folgt man den Steig mit den rot/weißen Markierungen. Der alte Steig zur Eckhardalm auf 962Hm ist zum Teil sehr ausgesetzt, führt durch mehrere Gräben und steilen Wald (Der Weg ist im Wald ist nicht mehr leicht zu erkennen  GPS oder Karte von Vorteil). Hat man die gut erhaltene Eckhardalm erreicht, geht es von der Alm zuerst über die Wiese und dann abwärts in den Wald ri. Süden. Hier trifft man auf Steigspuren die zuerst nach re und dann nach li zu den Felsen der Bäreggrinn führen. An einer geeigneten Stelle durchsteigt man die Rinne und kommt so auf einen breiten Rücken, den man abwärts bis auf ca. 820Hm folgt. Hier befindet sich eine freie Stelle um sich vom Baum in den Bach abzuseilen.

On our ascent, we followed hiking trail 220 in the direction of Happischhaus up to approx. 1140 m (signpost on the tree). From here, leave the hiking trail on the right to climb slightly uphill through the open, rough terrain to the 1st ditch. A narrow path should now be recognizable at the ridge in front of the ditch (if not climb a little higher). After descending into the 1st ditch, follow the path with the red/white markings. The old path to the Eckhardalm at 962m is partly very exposed, leads through several ditches and steep forest (the path is no longer easy to recognize in the forest  GPS or map is an advantage). Once you have reached the well-preserved Eckhardalm, the trail leads from the alpine pasture first across the meadows and then downhill into the forest to the south. Here you will come across tracks leading first to the right and then to the left to the rocks of the Bäreggrinn. At a suitable point, climb through the chute to reach a wide ridge, which you follow downhill to an altitude of approx. 820m. Here there is a free spot to rappel from the tree into the stream.

Am Abhang zum Bach sucht man orographisch re auf ca. 820Hm eine freie Stelle um sich von einem Baum ca. 30m in den Bach abzuseilen . Im Bachbett angekommen befindet sich re an einem Baum gleich die nächste Abseilstelle. Von Anfang an geht es im offenen Bachbett ohne große Schwierigkeit und Wegstrecke kontinuierlich über Stufen bis max. 25m Talwärts. Am Schluss steht man mit Tiefblick am 53m Wasserfall. Fast alle Abseilstellen sind im Wasserverlauf und enden in flachen Gumpen. Notausstiege gibt es keine, jedoch hat man fast immer die Möglichkeit sich vor dem Wasser in Sicherheit zu bringen. Der ideale Zeitpunkt für eine Begehung ist im Frühjahr (Schmelzwasser) oder nach Regentagen, da die Schlucht in der Regel nur wenig bis gar kein Wasser führt. Die Schlucht wurde ausreichend eingerichtet, so findet man an den höheren Abseilstellen immer 2 Bohrhaken mit Ring. Um nicht zwingend 2x50m Seile mitführen zu müssen wurde der 53m Schlußwasserfall unterteilt (Zwischenstand nach ca 20m). Die letzten 3m vom hohen Wasserfall können auch abgeklettert werden. Für die letzte 5m Stufe danach gibt es re noch ein Bohrhaken. Der Ausstieg liegt auf ca. 620Hm im Schotterwerk.

On the slope to the stream, look orographically right at approx. 820m for a free spot to rappel from a tree approx. 30m into the stream. Once in the streambed, the next abseil point is right next to a tree. From the beginning, the route continues in the open streambed without any great difficulty or distance over steps up to a maximum of 25m down into the valley. At the end you have a view down to the 53m waterfall. Almost all abseiling points are in the course of the water and exit in shallow pools. There are no emergency exits, but you almost always have the opportunity to get to safety before the water. The ideal time for an ascent is in spring (melt water) or after rainy days, as there is usually little to no water in the canyon. The canyon has been adequately equipped, so there are always 2 bolts with rings at the higher abseil points. In order to avoid having to carry 2x50m of ropes, the 53m final waterfall has been divided (intermediate point after approx. 20m). The last 3m of the high waterfall can also be downclimbed. For the last 5m steps after that there is a bolt right. The exit is at approx. 620m in the gravel work.

Das Werksgelände sollte so unauffällig wie möglich, geradewegs, in Richtung Bundesstraße verlassen werden. An der Brücke, bei der Bundesstraße angekommen folgt man dieser re für ca. 1,2Km bis zum Parkplatz Stegenwald (evtl. Überstellungsfahrzeug bei der Brücke abstellen = ca. 15min Zeitersparnis).

The factory premises should be left as inconspicuously as possible, straight on, in the direction of the main road. When you reach the bridge at the main road, follow the road on the right for approx. 1.2 km until you reach the Stegenwald parking lot (if necessary, park a shuttle car at the bridge = approx. 15 min time saving).
