Von Sbg. Süd ri Berchtesgaden --> nach Grenze in St Leonhard fährt man bis zum großen Wanderparkplatz li neben der Bundesstraße --> hier parken.

From Sbg. Süd ri Berchtesgaden --> after the border in St Leonhard drive to the large parking lot for hikers to the left of the main road --> park here.

Vom Parkplatz geht es zu Fuß auf der Bundesstraße weiter ri. Markschellenberg (nicht den Wanderweg zur Toni Lenz Hütte hoch) --> nach wenigen Meter überquert man die Straßenbrücke (Rothmannbach) --> hier befinden sich an einem Hang ein paar Häuser mit einer Zufahrtsstraße --> der Straße folgt man kurz hoch bis zu einer steilen Wiese (Abkürzung) --> oberhalb dieser Wiese trifft man auf eine Bergstraße (geht von Marktschellenberg hoch) --> der Straße re folgend geht es bis zum letzten Haus (hier könnte man evtl. auch parken) --> vom letzten Haus geht es auf der Forststraße (Schotter) für ca. 10min leicht ansteigend weiter bis zu einer Gabelung --> hier re leicht abfallend bis zum Bach hinunter (kleine Steinbrücke) --> Einstieg auf ca. 580Hm.

From the parking lot, continue on foot along the main road towards Markschellenberg (do not take the hiking trail up to the Toni Lenz Hut) --> after a few meters, cross the road bridge (Rothmannbach) --> here, on a slope, there are a few houses with an access road --> follow the road up briefly to a steep meadow (shortcut) --> above this meadow, you will meet a mountain road (goes up from Marktschellenberg) --> follow the road to the right until you reach the last house (here, you could possibly from the last house it goes on the forest road (gravel) for about 10min slightly uphill to a fork --> here right slightly downhill to the stream (small stone bridge) --> entry at about 580Hm.

Der Rothmannbach eignet sich für Einsteiger oder als kurze Vor- bzw. Nachmittagstour --> das Wasser ist sauber und kalt --> in der Schlucht trifft man immer wieder auf den Untersberger Marmor (rotes Kalkgestein) das in der Gegend häufig vorkommt --> anfangs gibt es kurze Geh- und Kletterpassagen (an manchen Stellen kann ein kurzes Seil oft hilfreich sein) --> nach mehreren kleinen Gumpen, Kletter- und Gehpassagen kommt eine größere Verblockung mit einem Zu- Fluss von li --> an dieser Stelle wird re. abgeklettert --> nach ca. 50m kommen mehrere große Felsen --> hier hätte man noch eine Notausstiegsmöglichkeit (re über steile Böschung) --> die nächste Stelle kann gerutscht oder umgangen werden --> es folgt eine Engstelle mit flacher Kaskade --> am Schluss der Kaskade befindet sich ein großer Klemmblock + Fixseil re --> Sprung vom Klemmblock nach Kontrolle der Wassertiefe möglich -->danach kommt ein Seilgeländer + 8m Abseilstelle in Gumpen (evtl. Sprung mögl.) --> Gehen und Klettern --> li ca. 10m Abseilen in Grotte (Alternative Abseilstelle li. oben ca.20m außerhalb der Wasserführung) + 1m Sprung in Gumpen unter einem großen Klemmblock --> Gehen/Schwimmen in Engpassage bis zu einem Fixseil +kleinen Sprung re --> weiter geht es noch ca. 500m im offenen Bachbett bis zu einer Holzbrücke auf ca. 470Hm.

The Rothmannbach is suitable for beginners or as a short pre- or afternoon tour. afternoon tour --> the water is clean and cold --> in the canyon you meet the Untersberg marble (red limestone) which is often found in the area --> at the beginning there are short walking and climbing passages (in some places a short rope can often be helpful) --> after several small pools, climbing and walking passages there is a larger blockage with an inflow from the left --> at this point downclimb to the right --> after approx. 50m there are several big rocks --> here you have an emergency exit (right over steep slope) --> the next spot can be slid or bypassed --> a narrow spot with a shallow cascade follows --> at the end of the cascade there is a big clamping block + fixed rope right --> jumping from the clamping block is possible after checking the water depth --> after that there is a rope traverse + 8m abseil into pools (possibly (possible jump) --> walking and rappelling --> left approx. 10m rappel into grotto (alternative rappel point left above approx.20m outside the watercourse) + 1m jump in pool under a big clamping block --> walk/swim in narrow passage up to a fixed rope +small jump right --> continue approx. 500m in open streambed up to a wooden bridge at approx. 470Hm.
