Von der Stauseebrücke (Rio Cavado) Geres fährt man in Richtung Vila do Geres/ Espanha. Nach ca. 6Km biegt man rechts Richtung Ermida ab. Ab hier folgt man der Bergstraße Richtung Ortschaft Ermida. Dann weiter bis zur einer Straßengabelung mit der Beschilderung Richtung "Cascata do Arado". Nach dem man rechts abgebogen ist, wechselt man von der Asphaltstraße auf eine Schotterstraße mit Löcher die bis zur Arado runter führt. Direkt bei der Brücke gibt es mehrere Parkmöglichkeiten.

From the dam bridge (Rio Cavado) Geres you drive in the direction of Vila do Geres/ Espanha. After about 6 km, turn right in the direction of Ermida. From here, follow the mountain road in the direction of Ermida. Continue until you reach a fork in the road with signs for "Cascata do Arado". After turning right, the asphalt road changes to a gravel road with holes that goes down to the Arado. Directly at the bridge there are several parking possibilities.

Von der Brücke/Parkplatz aus folgt man der Wanderbeschilderung (Holzschild) "Cascata do Arado" (orogr. Links). In Kürze steht man beim Aussichtspunkt auf 750m wo man den Wasserstand kontrolliert bevor man weiter hoch geht. Der Weg ist mit Steinmanderl gekennzeichnet und führt durch eine Wunderschöne Berglandschaft. Nach einigen Höhenmetern überquert man einen Zufluss (li) des Arados und kurz darauf stößt man auf eine Weggabelung. hier den rechten Weg folgen. Auf einer Anhöhe kann man schon den großen 45m Wasserfall sehen. Es geht weiter in einen Rechtsbogen zwischen Arado und den linken Zufluss bis zu einer weiteren Anhöhe mit Sicht auf das bezaubernden Arado Hochtal. Links haltend steigt man in Kürze zum Bach auf 930m ab (Einstieg) (Möchte man den Wasserfall nicht machen, steigt man vorher schon zum Bach hinunter).

From the bridge/parking lot, follow the hiking sign (wooden sign) "Cascata do Arado" (orographic left). Shortly you will reach the viewpoint at 750m where you can check the water level before continuing up. The path is marked with stone markers and leads through a beautiful mountain landscape. After a few meters of altitude you cross a tributary (left) of the Arado river and shortly after you come to a fork in the road. On a hill you can already see the big 45m waterfall. Continue in a right turn between the Arado and the left tributary until you reach another hill with a view of the enchanting Arado high valley. Keeping left, one descends shortly to the path at 930m (entry) (if one does not want to do the waterfall, one descends before to the path).

Die Schlucht beginnt mit einer Gehstrecke und kleine Abkletterpassagen in offenen Gelände. Danach folgen 3 kürzere Abseilstellen wobei der letzte Abseiler, vor dem großen Wasserfall, gesprungen werden kann. Der hohe Wasserfall (45m) wird rechts mit wenig Wasserkontakt abgeseilt. Gleich darauf folgt ein ausgesetzter Stand auf der rechten Seite. Das fixe Geländerseil wird im Normalfall nicht benötigt. Um den Abstieg für anderen, wegen einer Engstelle (Einklemmgefahr) zu erleichtern, kann die erste Person eine Seilbahn aufbauen (Bohrhaken unten vorhanden). Jetzt folgt ein langer Geh-und Abkletterabschnitt mit einigen Sprungmöglichkeiten. Eine höhere schräge Stufe in der Mitte der Schlucht kann links abgeseilt oder rechts umgangen werden. Kurz darauf kommt ein Gumpen mit mehreren Sprungmöglichkeiten (Achtung Stein im Gumpen!). Es folgt eine aquatische 3-er-Kaskade die zugleich die letzten Stufen sind. Um zum ersten Stand der Kaskade zu gelangen seilt man sich vor dem riesigen Granitblock ab unter dem man durchschwimmt (Standplatz rechts). Nach der schönen Kaskade kommt noch ein Geh-und Abkletterabschitt der in Kürze zur Brücke/ Ausstieg führt (hier fängt die Arado inferiore an).

The canyon begins with a walking passages and small downclimb in open terrain. This is followed by 3 shorter rappel sections where the last rappel, before the big waterfall, can be jumped. The high waterfall (45m) is rappelled on the right with little water contact. Immediately after follows an exposed belay on the right side. The fixed traverese rope is not normally needed. To make the descent easier for others, because of a narrow spot (danger of entrapment), the first person can set up a rope line (drill hooks available at the bottom). Now follows a long walking and descending section with some possible jumps. A higher sloping step in the middle of the canyon can be rappelled left or bypassed right. Shortly after, there is a pool with several possible jumps (beware of the stone in the pool!). An aquatic cascade of 3 steps follows, which are also the last steps. In order to get to the first rappel of the cascade, you have to rappel in front of the huge granite block under which you swim (stand on the right). After the beautiful cascade there is another walking and descending section that leads shortly to the bridge/exit (here begins the Arado inferiore).
