Von Pamplona in Richtung Huesca auf der A21. Nach ca. 16 km passieren wir die letzte Ausfahrt vor Monreal. Bei der nächsten Ausfahrt, also nach Monreal, fahren wir von der A21 ab auf die NA234 in westlicher Richtung. Nach etwas mehr als 1km auf einer schmalen bolzengeraden Straße überquert man den Rio Elorz. Unmittelbar nach der Brücke links ab und über den neuen Canal de Navarra hinauf zum Weiler Yamoz. Hier das untere Fahrzeug bei der Kirche parken. Die herkömmliche Zufahrt zum Schluchtausgang ist zwar noch vorhanden, aber nach den hier erfolgten Straßen- und Kanalbaumaßnahmen schwer zu finden und jedenfalls mit einem normalen PKW nicht zu meistern. Mit dem zweiten Fahrzeug geht es zurück Richtung A21. Noch vor der Autobahn biegen wir rechts ab und fahren nach Monreal. Dort wieder rechts folgen wir dem Wegweiser Higa. Es geht wieder über den Rio Elorz (rechts die mittelalterliche Brücke). Danach steigt die Straße an. Wir folgen der sehr gleichmäßig ansteigenden Piste in nordwestlicher Richtung.Nach einiger Zeit wird sie steiler und wendet sich plötzlich fast 90 Grad nach Südwesten. Direkt nach dieser markanten Kurve findet sich re. am Pistenrand ein großer Steinhaufen (760 m ü.NN). Hier stellen wir unser Fahrzeug ab. Falls die Piste schlecht oder nicht befahrbar scheint, stellen wir unser Auto vorher ab. Zur Umsetzung siehe Google maps-Kartenausschnitt bei den Fotos in der Galerie.

The conventional access road to the canyon exit is still there, but after the road and canal construction work that has been done here, it is difficult to find and in 2008, in any case, not to be mastered with a normal car.With the second vehicle, we go back to the N 204 and continue (direction Huesca) to the next village. In Monreal one turns right and follows the signpost Higa. It crosses again the Rio Elorz (medieval bridge on the right). After that the path climbs. After a bend to the right, there is a left-hand serpentine (fenced property on the right). Here park the second vehicle (continue on the slope - 2008 - only with four-wheel drive).

Am Steinhaufen führen deutliche Spuren steil hinunter. Einmal folgt eine kurze Stufe, die abgeseilt werden kann. Man erreicht das Bachbett direkt am 1. Abseiler und spart sich so etwa 30 Min. im Bachbett, die der herkömmliche Zustieg, der weiter oben von der Piste abgeht, mit sich brachte.

We follow the very evenly rising slope in a northwesterly direction. After some time it becomes steeper and suddenly turns almost 90 degrees to the southwest. Directly after this prominent bend, a large cairn (760 m above sea level) is found on the right at the edge of the slope. In front of this, clear tracks lead steeply downhill. Once a short steep step follows, which can be rappelled. One reaches the streambed directly at the 1st rappel and saves about 30 min. in the streambed, which the conventional access, which went further up from the slope, entailed.

Nach dem letzten Abseiler links hinaus und am Rande des Feldes weiter den Bach entlang bis zum Feldweg bei der Brücke (früherer Standort des unteren Fahrzeugs). Hier links. Der Feldweg und der sich anschließende Pfad nach Yamoz sind Teil des 'camino' nach Santiago de Compostela. Der pilgernde Canyonist nimmt bei einer Verzweigung den oberen Weg und kommt so zur Kirche in Yamoz zurück.

The dirt road and the following path to Yamoz are part of the 'camino' to Santiago de Compostela. The pilgrim canyoneer takes the upper path at a fork, returning to the church in Yamoz.
